Hello, I’m Brandi Wyldewood, interior designer, canine behaviourist, & founder of Wylderwoods Lighting & Design. Before focusing on design, I ran GPS tracked canine adventure hikes here on Salt Spring Island. Those hikes were more than just outdoor fun. They taught me how the right environment can shape behaviour and wellbeing and laid the foundation for the work I do today.
While completing my interior design degree, I also worked as a behaviourist with a leading humane society, creating enrichment and rehabilitation plans for surrendered canines. Seeing how thoughtfully structured spaces could support confidence, curiosity, & calm behaviour showed me that design, for both humans & companions, can transform daily life.
Now I have returned with a renewed vision, combining Human Design & Companion Design under one name. Together, these two halves explore how spaces can nurture wellbeing, connection, & joy for people & the companions they share their lives with.
In this Journal entry, I’ll share how those early experiences, along with my design work, have shaped the creation of the Wylderwoods Enrichment Park and my approach to integrated Human & Companion Design.

The Legacy of Adventure Hikes
Garmin GPS tracked adventure hikes taught me more than I could have imagined. They weren’t just long treks through forests & fields, they were opportunities for canines to build confidence, connect with one another, & thrive in nature. I witnessed nervous companions become brave explorers, energetic ones find balance, & seniors rediscover the joy of gentle movement.
These lessons stayed with me as I moved from the trails into design studios & ultimately inspired the next evolution of Wylderwoods Lighting & Design.

The Wylderwoods Enrichment Park
Drawing on my background in both design & behaviour, I created the Wylderwoods Enrichment Park; a private, intentionally designed 55,921 sq ft park dedicated to Enrichment Outings.
Unlike a standard off-leash space, every element has purpose:
Confidence zones for climbing, balancing, & navigating safely.
Sensory areas that spark curiosity & encourage natural behaviours.
Open fields for structured play, rest, & small-group interaction.
Secure boundaries that provide freedom without risk.
The park is available exclusively to Enrichment Outings clients here, offering a boutique experience that prioritizes well-being over crowding. For me, it represents the natural progression of my adventure hikes, still rooted in exploration & joy, but elevated through purposeful design.

Designing Spaces for Humans & Companions
At Wylderwoods Lighting & Design, I don’t see Human Design and Companion Design as separate offerings, they’re two sides of the same approach. Every space I create considers both the humans who live in it and the companions who share it.
Natural light, thoughtful layouts, and intentional details all shape how a space feels and functions. Just as the Wylderwoods Enrichment Park is designed for canines to explore, learn, and feel confident, interiors can be crafted so people and their companions thrive together.
Whether it’s a home or a park, my goal is to create environments that illuminate comfort, connection, & purpose for everyone who lives, rests, or plays within them.
Looking Forward
If you’ve followed me since the adventure hike days, thank you for being part of my foundation. Your support & trust made Wylderwoods Lighting & Design possible. If you’re new here, welcome, I’m excited to share this journey with you.

Whether you’re interested in lighting & interior design, curious about Companion Design, or drawn to the Wylderwoods Enrichment Park & Enrichment Outings, I hope you’ll find inspiration here. This is only the beginning & I can’t wait to illuminate what comes next.
